Bougie Brie's Bargain Basement Shopping @ Beauty Empire Beauty Supply

If you interested in finding some inexpensive, but better than decent quality makeup, I would head to your local beauty supply. Sure, there are some beauty items that are less than stellar, but I found some real gems at the Beauty Empire on Fondren in Houston, TX. The owner, Dan was a very nice man and he explained how they are expanding their beauty section so they can bring in more products. Check out what I got below! An absolute steal!

Bougie Brie's Monthly Best in Beauty

What did I like this past month? You might be surprised to find out! I did a lot of purchasing this month, but I haven't had time to play with all my new goodies. I hauled drugstore, affordable, high-end, and luxury items for a couple of reasons. First, not everything that is the "bomb" comes from Sephora, there are many items that you can find at your local drugstore or on a discount website that will go toe to toe with high-end brands. Secondly, the luxury items I did buy were on my wish list for a while, and lastly I like to purchase a variety of products to review and give my audience options. So, let's see what were my top 5 products this month!
  • Jouer Highlighter in Topaz: This highlighter was a part of my Palette & a Partner series, where, I choose one major palette and a "partner(s)" for one week straight. I have consistently been using my Becca "Topaz" highlighter for several weeks in a row and it was time to change it up. I purchased this highlighter ob Beautylish and it was more affordable than I thought it was going to be. I was able to create a very subtle work-appropriate highlight or blind the haters when they see me walking.
  • Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation: I am usually an oil slick concerning my skin and how it handles makeup. By mid-day, I am blotting and powdering and trying to get this trainwreck of a makeup look, back on the tracks! Time has a funny way of turning things around because this winter my skin has been SUPER dry. Like a whole other level of DRY! The major of my foundations are matte, which is designed more for oily skin. I discovered the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation in the back of my foundation box and decided to give a try and let me tell you - my skin thanked me immensely. My skin looked healthy and glowy, but not oily. I couldn't be more pleased,
  • Natasha Denona Palette 5 #2: Oh weeee baby! Talk about LUXURY! Hands down, Natasha Denona's eyeshadows are the BEST eyeshadows that I have ever worked with and I am so glad that I spoiled myself and treated myself to this palette! The colors are so rich and creamy and the shadows transfer to the eye just as they do in a swatch. Pigmented, buttery, consistent, beautiful and worth every penny, Natasha Denona is where it's at!
  • No. 7 Skin Melting Gel Cleanser: A simple, inexpensive, efficient way to remove makeup and residue while cleansing your skin thoroughly and leaving it smooth and supple. This gel cleanser seems to be oil based and I take between a dime and nickel size amount of product and rub it all over my face, including gently over my eyes. I do this  WITHOUT water, just using the product itself. When I feel as though all the makeup has been broken down completed, I wash away the product and it leaves my skin soft and clean, ready to be toned, and moisturized! Great find, especially on a budget.
  • Urban Decay Basics #2: This mini palette lives in my everyday makeup drawer! I have a selection of transition shades that I use daily, and this palette is my "go-to" for transition shades. Given me skin tone and the hyperpigmentation in my eyelids, it is the perfect palette to set my eyeshadow primer and work into the crease to create a flawless makeup look. This palette retails for $29 dollars, and can be used alone to create a generic, everyday work look, but it also can be used in conjunction with other palettes. Good little palette.
So, those are the products that rocked my socks off in March! Stay tuned for more Top 5
posts, including my Top 5 foundations! Keep an eye out for that!

YouTuber of the Week - Chelsea Louder

I love it when I find beautiful gems amongst the youtube hype. Again, yes again, I have been binge watching palette collection videos. Chelsea Louder's channel popped up on screen and I was hooked. This woman is vivacious, authentic, and just REAL. Remember real, people? I was automatically drawn to her and found her assessments of the palettes accurate and fair. My favorite part was that she poured a glass of Moscato during her taping - my kind of girl. I know I am just a humble little beauty blogger, but I know when I see quality, genuine people and I think Ms. Chelsea Louder is worth checking out. Here's her most recent video

A Palette & a Partner - Week 2

Welcome to week 2 of a Palette & a Partner! I excited to report that I used only the eyeshadow palette and its partner for the entirety of last week. I didn't dip into other palette or anything, and I must say I was quite proud. This week's choices for a Palette & a Partner are Urban Decay's  "Naked" Palette, Viseart's "Bijou Royal, and Sleek's "Cleopatra" Highlighter. I will try to post a look using this week's items, so be on the lookout for that. Remember to follow me on all my social media and if you ever would like to contact me, then click the "Contact Me" tab. Have a great week everyone!
