Product Review - Origins: Original Skin Retexturing Mask with Rose Clay

Purchase Process & Price

I purchase the Origins Original Skin Retexturing Mask with Rose Clay from my local Sephora about 3 months ago and I paid $26. I asked the Sephora associate about something to help with the texture I was experiencing on my cheeks and she first recommended something from First Aid Beauty (which I actually picked up recently) and then changed her mind and show me the Origins mask, which I ended up purchasing that day.

Packaging

The product came in a 3.4 oz baby pink tube with a white end cap. It has a very feminine touch to it, which may dissuade male/masculine buyers. Packaging that is more gender specific alienates an entire customer base that may benefit from the product (If indeed the product is beneficial). Needless to say, I was not a fan of the packaging and I consider myself quite feminine, yet I think more needs to be done to make things gender neutral.

Performance

My main focus when purchasing this product was to address the texture on my cheeks. The product claims, "Made with Mediterranean rose clay, Canadian willow herb, and exfoliating jojoba beads, it helps gently deep clean while refining skin’s texture. Pores appear to vanish and clarity is restored for a radiant, youthful-looking complexion that’s silky-smooth to the touch". Along with my regular a.m & p.m. skin care routines, I used this product 3 times a week for 6 weeks. I found that it did little to nothing for my texture. I used this retexturing mask exclusively, putting all other mask I previously used, to the side. My skin's texture did not improve in any way and I found that this product dried out my skin and left it scaly and patchy. Every time I applied foundation after using this product (always using a primer first), the dry spots on my face were further exacerbated and no matter what foundation I used, it looked terrible if I used this product before it. Since using this product I have purchased another product designed to address texture and resurface skin and I saw a noticeable the very next day (I will be posting a product review about this product soon!!). I was completely underwhelmed by this product.

Overall Product Presentation

I promise honest & thorough reviews on this blog for the benefit of average consumers and every day "Jane's" like me. Every single product I currently have I purchased with my own money and I have a lot of beauty products. I tried to spend my money wisely and choose products that will truly benefit me. This product was a complete waste of my money. I gave it 6 full weeks to do its magic and it did absolutely nothing. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone with any type of skin. Although I found this product useless, I still think Origin's makes quality products....they just missed the mark on this one.
