Price & Purchase Process & Packaging:

If you are an avid reader of this blog, or you follow me on IG or YouTube, then you know that I have an extraordinary eyeshadow palette collection and that I am a huge supporter of minority-owned businesses (women, people of color, members of the GLBTQ Community and other fringed populations). My Indie eyeshadow palette collection has increased enormously over the last twelve months, featuring many brands that began their business in their own homes, and even brands that still run their business out of their home, such as OMFG Cosmetics. I will say that I am not a fan of the brand's name. I think it's extremely derogatory and inappropriate, but it's catchy and memorable, which is key to branding. I purchased two palettes from this brand that I was able to catch on sale at a very good price. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the owner was unable to ship my order for a little over two weeks due to an important family issue, and she attempted to rectify and remedy this issue the best she could and after exchanging a couple of emails, she shared with me her situation, and I was able to find empathy and patience  She also sent two brushes and a free duochrome highlighter, which was appreciated greatly. I do not think that this is a typical customer service experience for an average consumer, as I said, there were some extenuating circumstances. The items eventually arrived packaged quite well and undamaged.

Pigmentation & Color Payoff & Performance:

My purchase experience aside, when I received my package, I was happy to get a look at the two palettes I purchased - "Fall Vibes" & "Sea Dreams". Each 12 pan color story was uniquely curated, packaged in a baby pink cardboard encasement with the brand's logo scripted on the front on each palette.

The above picture is of the "Sea Dreams" palette which is heavily cool toned and features a variation of blue & green shades, with a couple of neutral shades to balance the aesthetic of the color story. One thing I personally like about this palette is the matte/shimmer ratio. Most reviewers, including YouTubers, focus heavily on matte shades as the foundation of any eye look and insist that the matte/shimmer ratio should rest heavily on the shoulders of the matte shades. I happen to disagree. Depending on the color story and the theme of the palette, sometimes shimmer/metallics are more necessary, especially when you are working with a more monochromatic palette like this particular palette. The matte shadows are quite beautiful and true to color in terms of application from pan to eye. The shimmer/metallic shades are also quite good, but I found them a bit too densely packed into the pan. I am not sure if that is a binding agent issue or the method of packing into the pan, however, they are still quite beautiful.

The palette below is the "Fall Vibes" palette. This palette features an equal amount of matte & shimmer/metallic shades, which is completely appropriate for a palette that is non-monochromatic.  The matte/shimmer ratio is consistent with allowing the consumer to create a myriad of eye looks, bringing creativity to the table as a tool for the use of diverse shades that actually work quite well together. Again, the mattes in this palette were quite wonderful, however, I was not as fond of this palettes shimmer/metallics shades. Again, I don't know if this is a binding agent or pressing issue, but the shimmer/metallic did not perform as well as that "Sea Dreams" palette. They are not bad shimmer/metallics by far,  just not as impressive as I was hoping. The shimmer/metallics take a bit of building up, which I actually do not mind at all, and you definitely need a spray of "Fix Plus" to aid in making the shimmer/metallics pop! Not a major issue, just something to be aware of.

Rating: 8.5/10

I am definitely keeping these palettes and I am happy to have them. They are excellent palettes, especially for the price and the color stories are unique and interesting. Of course, I always want to support Indie brands, so I am hoping to purchase a couple of more palettes from this brand to compare the performance of the palettes. Price & Purchase Process & Packaging:

I was introduced to this brand through a number of smaller YouTubers, in particular, Georgia Harris & Makeup Struggles. Over the last year, I have gotten into Indie brands in a very heavy, adventurous, and thorough manner and I believe I actually own more Indie Palettes & Single Shadows than I do mainstream brands like Urban Decay & Too Faced. I was initially introduced to the brand through Georgia Harris enter single shadow collection video. She provided swatches from the brand was instantly mesmerized by and intrigued enough to make an order. I ordered a couple of bundles including the Fall 2017 Single Shadow Bundle, The Danny's Dream Bundle, The Autumn's  Reign Eyeshadow Palette and several other single shadows which I curated Into specific monochromatic Eyeshadow palettes featuring purple, pinks, blues, and greens. Each package arrived quickly and was packaged with extreme care and pleasant aesthetic presentation. The shadows I purchased were either in a bundle or $6 individually. To compare, Colourpop Single eyeshadows are five dollars individually and are quite cute and trendy, However, Sidney Grace is bringing high quality, richly pigmented, innovative and daring eyeshadow singles to Indie market which is what consumers are really wanting to see. At one point I have all of Colourpops single eyeshadow shades but upon being introduced to Sydney Grace, I have found another company that I would rather purchase my single shadows from.

Pigmentation & Color Payoff & Performance:

This brand is absolutely unmatched in their single shadow eyeshadow game. Each shadow is so unique in its color and tone and depth. I have some shimmer shadows, matte eyeshadows, and some pressed pigments as well. Each shadow performs incredibly well. The matte eyeshadows blend extremely beautifully and without hardly any real concerted effort. I find each shade to be extremely unique and pair well with others in each collection. I was able to curate a beautiful green and blue eyeshadow palette as well as a pink and purple eyeshadow palette and I am absolutely head over heels in love with. I also purchased the Danny dream bundle which is incredibly beautiful with the selection of green shades that are to die for. The Autumn's Reign eyeshadow is so remarkable and beautifully curated in a manner that is perfect for any level of eyeshadow expertise. One thing that is especially impressive about the shadows from this brand is that anyone with any level of expertise regarding eyeshadows can use them and be successful in creating a beautiful eye look. You do not need to be a make up artist or even a make up enthusiast to come out with the beautifully and wonderfully put together look. The brain also offers a selection of palette comps. For example, if you were not able to get a hold of a certain eyeshadow palette that was now sold out the brain offers comps of that eyeshadow palette that you can by using their single shadow selection. For example on their website at this moment they have eyeshadow comps that are similar to the Lolita eyeshadow palette, the Melt Smoke Sessions eyeshadow palette, the ABH's Riviera eyeshadow palette, and the ND Biba eyeshadow palette. If you prefer their eye shadow formula and you may be able to pick up compositions of these eyeshadow palettes using their formula at a lower price. Every time I use the shadows from Sydney Grace I am More than pleased with my eye looked and I cannot give this company enough credit for their ingenuity and their customer service as well as their brand aesthetic. While everybody is up in arms about other brands single shadow selection, I am telling you if you are a makeup artist or a makeup enthusiast or collector and you're looking to up your single eye shadow game this is where you need to start. Quality, customer service, uniqueness, ingenuity, and more than fair price for the product. Sydney Grace has all my love and I'm so glad that I finally took the diving invested money and some other single shadows.
