Product Review: Coastal Scents: Winterberry Palette , Pictures, Wearability, and Swatches

Coastal Scents is an American company based out of Aston, PA. In my opinion, Coastal Scents produces the highest quality products, at affordable and reasonable price. According to the "About Us" page of their website, "Coastal Scents does not test products on animals and only support suppliers that do the same. All the products Coastal Scents carries are produced cruelty free and no animals are harmed. Even though some companies still test on animals, Coastal Scents believes that it is unnecessary and unethical." This speaks to  the company's business ethics, and best practices, which extends to their customer service and customer care methods. With all that being said, I purchased the Winterberry Palette directly from the Coastal Scents website. The Palette is pictured below.
I decided while applying the shadows, that I would go for a very purpl-ish, yet subtle (as subtle as you can be with purple eyeshadows). I began applying my eyeshadow at 6:30 am. I took "Thulian Pink," in the crease with a very light hand and then decided to go in a tad heavier. Next, I darkened the crease with "Amethyst" and then brought the shadow to the outer v. For the lid, I wet my brush (Fix Plus) and packed the lid with "Lavender". The end result is below.

I wore the shadows throughout the day and shortly after I applied my makeup, I went for a 2 mile walk (I know, backwards). Here is a picture of the shadows around 1:30pm, approximately 6 hours wear time.

I spent a lot of time the day I "tested" the eyeshadows, running errands in my car, outdoors helping my mother in her garden, and eating barbecue outside on a bench. I am saying this because I was extremely busy that day and the wearability of the shadows was mind-blowing. I was more than pleased at how well the shadow held up against my schedule and my times outdoors. Below are pictures at 6:00 pm, approximately 11 hours later.

Results:
1) I paid 12.95 for the palette and it held up better than most of my higher-end palette
2) Very pigmented, go in with a light hand (but on the plus side, little to no fall out.
3) Can use with Fix Plus to intensify the color
4) Blendable, but you must take your time.
5) Excellent price point

Product Review - Colourpop: SuperShock Eyeshadows, 8 Hour Wear Test, Swatches

Colourpop SuperShock Eyeshadows: 8 Hour Wear Test
7:30 am Application

Eyeshadows Used:
Blaze & Cornelius in the crease; Vega in the crease to lighten and bring shimmer; and Thirsty Girl in the inner corner lid

Colourpop SuperShock Eyeshadow @ 12:30pm

Colourpop SuperShock Eyeshadow @2:30 pm

Colourpop SuperShock Eyeshadows @6:00 pm

I wore Colourpop's SuperShock eyeshadows in the shades Blaze, Cornelius, Vega, and Thirsty Girl for approximately 10 hours. I used the Milani Eyeshadow Primer and set the primer with Sacha Buttercup Powder. Application of the all the shadows was quite easy, and they blended well, without blending into nothing. I suggest you use a light hand when going in with transition shades, because the shadows are thoroughly pigmented. I packed "Thirsty Girl" on my lid, but I found that the color payoff was even more significant if I wet my brush. I was extremely pleased with how well the shadow wore. Most shadows will not give such wearability, even with an eyeshadow primer. Considering the price of the shadows ($5), one would expect them to perform equal to the price point, but I must say that these shadows, while at a drugstore price, give the longevity, pigmentation, and blendability of high-end products. Honestly, these shadows perform better than most high-end shadows.
Results:
1. Ridiculously affordable
2. User friendly website
3. Wide range of eyeshadows
4. Pigmented, without significant fall out
5. Extended wearability (10 hr)

Product Review - Coloured Raine: Empire Liquid Lipstick Wear Test With Check In's and Pictures

7:35 am After application, lips do not feel dry nor sticky, but moisturized. Color looks amazing, with a slight sheen. Lined lips with "Jordana's Easyliner For Lips Retractable Pencil in Cabernet.
Check back in at noon!  **added a little Anastasia Beverly Hills lip gloss in Gilded

12:35 pm After eating  lunch, lip gloss faded, but liquid lipstick did not flake or crust. Stay nice and even and looked the same after lunch, as it did before.

Results: I wore this beautiful color for approximately 8 hours. It applied nicely and dried down semi-matte and I topped it with Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss - Gilded, to extenuate the color a bit. I ate a meal with this lip product and drink water and an energy drink, and I must say that it wore off very, very, slightly. The color wore remarkably well for the entire 8 hours, without needing a touch-up and I am very impressed.

Product Review - Sleek: I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Storm, Plus Swatches

The Sleek Makeup company operates out of London and has several products that are staples in many women and men's collections. I will be reviewing the I -Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Storm, complete with swatches, and pictures of how the product wears on the eyes. The Storm palette is one of 12 in the I-Divine series. These eyeshadows are mineral based, formulated to be long lasting and pigmented without producing a ton of fall out. The website states, "Storm contains shimmery neutral pinks and beiges perfect for day looks and gorgeous shades of dark blue, green and copper for elegant evening looks. This palette is perfect to take your look from natural to bold." The palettes are $10.49

I have heard great things about Sleek products but never had the opportunity to test and review any of their items. The I-Divine Storm is my first opportunity to swatch, test and wear, and review this brands product. For my test and wear look, I laid down an eyeshadow primer (Milani Eyeshadow Primer) and used Sacha Buttercup Powder to set my eyelids. I took "Calm Before the Storm" in my crease and worked it in slowly, back and forth. The shadow was noticeably pigmented and blended very well. I then darkened the crease using, "Eye of the Storm." Both shadows are fantastic transition shades and created an excellent neutral color in the crease. I decided that I wanted to test out two of the shimmer shades and after darkening the outer v with "Eye of the Storm" I popped "Sand Storm" on my right eye lid and "Dust Storm" on my left eye lid (see pictures below).

The shadows wore well throughout the day, with minimal fading and the pops of color stay vibrant and visible well into the 8th hour. I was extremely impressed with this palette and would highly recommend it to other makeup enthusiasts. The reasons are below:

  1. Afforable
  2. Many palette options to choose from
  3. When worn with an eyeshadow primer, the shadows last 8 hour plus
  4. Accessible - you may purchase these palettes directly from Sleek or even Amazon
  5. Rating: B

Product Review - Buxom: Dolly's Wild Side Eyeshadow Palette

I purchased this palette for a very good price on Glambot. For those of you who do not know what Glambot is, it is a website featuring gently used makeup at reduced prices. I purchased this particular palette because I did not have any Buxom Eyeshadow palettes in my collections, and I have read great reviews about their eyeshadows. The package arrived and I will say that it did have the physical appearance of being gently used (the packaging was scratched up). The palette contained 6 sizeable eyeshadow pans featuring 2 matte shades, 2 satin shades, and 2 metalllic/foiled shades. The palette gives the user the ability to create several beautiful looks, and the shadows themselves are creamy, buttery, and pigmented - the trifecta! I wore this eyeshadow palette over the course of three days with an eyeshadow primer and I was quite pleased with the wearability and longevity of the shadows, as well as the color pay off. The metallic/foiled shades work well dry, but work even better wet, so I wet my brush with a  little primer water and just pack the color onto the lid and it looks stunning. This palette lived up to the wonderful reputation of Buxom eyeshadows. I just ordered a customizable palette from Sephora based on my experience with this palette and I am looking forward to receiving that order because I know I will get quality, beautiful shades. If you haven't tried Buxom's eyeshadows, start out by purchasing their customizable eyeshadow palette. You get six sizable eyeshadows, selected by you, which is an $85 value for $40. Definitely check it out!

Product Review - Cargo Cosmetics: Land Down Under Eyeshadow Palette

This eyeshadow palette features 12 cool & neutral shadows, an eyeliner pencil, and a dual ended eyeshadow brush. The palette retails for $34 USD, but claims a $102 value (I am assuming due to the eyeliner and dual ended brush). On the back of the box, there is a section entitled, "Get The Look," which details how to create specific looks with the palette. I was able to purchase this palette at a reduced price of $17.50 from Ulta. I have worn the shadows on three different occasions, and although I was not initially impressed with the pigmentation (swatches below), the shadows are buildable and blend nicely. I followed the instructions on the back of the box and created two different looks that I was pleased with (although subtle and simple) and complimented my overall look. The color selection isn't my favorite and makes it difficult to complete a glamorous look, without the aid of another palette. The packaging definitely leaves something to be desired, in a cheap semi-gloss white cardboard like a rectangle, with a magnetic strip to open and close the palette. Overall, the palette is decently fair. I wouldn't pay $34 for it, but I am ok that I paid $17.50, especially since I got an eyeliner and dual ended brush out of it. I would recommend this palette to first-time makeup users or inexperienced users. Makeup connoisseurs will not find this a great addition to their collection.

Product Review - BH Cosmetics: Carli Bybel - 10 color Eyeshadow & 4 Color Highlighter Palette

I initially purchased this palette through Ulta, but it was destroyed in an incident with a gym bag and a fairly large puddle. I then repurchased the palette through the BH Cosmetics website, and I decided to purchase two palettes. I purchased two palettes with the idea of having a backup in case something strange happened, and also to give one away to a friend. The palette comes in a sleeve and is constructed out of a cardboard like material. The colors are stunning, but honestly, some of them seem redundant and some of the shadows could possibly be used as highlighters. The shadows & highlighters are well pigmented and look beautiful against my olive/tan skin. The swatches below can verify this assertion. I do not know how the shadows and highlighters would look on paler skin, but on my skin, they look fantastic. The shadows do create a bit of fall out, but they blend very well and the colors, although simple, are gorgeous. Unfortunately, because of the color selection, an average consumer is not able to create anything more than a brown smoky eye or a blendable two tone shadow combination, but for the price, you really can't beat this palette. If you are expecting a wide selection of colors, you won't get that with this palette, but for simple, classic looks, this might be the palette for you!

Product Review - Buxom: Stone Cold Babe Eyeshadow Set

I got this holiday palette on sale at Sephora after Christmas. I have a couple of other Buxom palette's that I created myself, and I have always been quite pleased with the pigmentation and the blendability of the shadows. I purchased this set for $29 USD and it came with a mini Buxom mascara, which was a great added bonus. The set included 12 mini shadows and a customizable palette that you can re-use with other Buxom shadows. I was initially excited because I really felt like I got this set for a steal! The package arrived from Sephora and I opened it and the first thing I noticed was the size of the shadows, about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of a regular Buxom shadow. Not happy about that one, at all! Then I swatched the shadows and the results are below. The shadows were not pigmented and seemed quite chalky. I decided to attempt to apply them to my eyes and create a smoky eye look. Surprisingly, although the shadows don't swatch as pigmented, with primer, they went on my eyes with ease and blended well. It still lacked pigmentation, but not as much as I anticipated initially. They are workable shadows and you can create decent eye looks. Is it my palette of choice? The first one I would reach for? No, but it's a good palette for traveling if you want to create an average smoky eye that is subtle but inviting. Overall, I wouldn't purchase this palette again, but since I have it, I have discovered that I can make it work for me.
